Hill released a government statement through social media saying that Venezuela is prepared to move towards a new phase of constructive dialogue with the United States based on mutual respect, sovereign equality, and cooperation, believing that this process will enhance understanding and create opportunities for a mutually beneficial bilateral relationship. The US State Department issued a statement on the same day saying that the US and Venezuelan governments have agreed to restore diplomatic and consular relations.
