Premier of the State Council, Li Keqiang, expressed in the government work report on the 5th that we must resolutely implement the principle of "one country, two systems", "Hong Kong people governing Hong Kong", "Macao people governing Macao" and a high degree of autonomy, implement the principle of "patriots governing Hong Kong" and "patriots governing Macao", enhance the effectiveness of governing Hong Kong and Macao in accordance with the law, and promote the economic and social development of Hong Kong and Macao. Support Hong Kong and Macao in better integrating into and serving the overall development of the country, leverage their unique advantages and important roles as they are backed by the motherland and connected with the world, and promote long-term prosperity and stability in Hong Kong and Macao. We must thoroughly implement the overall strategy of the Communist Party of China in solving the Taiwan issue in the new era, adhere to the one-China principle and the "1992 Consensus", resolutely combat separatist forces advocating Taiwan independence, oppose external interference, promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, and advance the great cause of national reunification. Deepen cross-strait exchanges, cooperation and integrated development, jointly inherit and promote Chinese culture, implement policies that ensure equal treatment for Taiwanese compatriots, enhance the well-being of compatriots on both sides of the strait, and jointly create the great cause of national rejuvenation.
