On March 3rd, in response to the recent policy change announced by the Zimbabwean government to suspend all exports of lithium ores and concentrates, China Minmetals Corporation stated in a reply to Interface News that the production and sale of the company's lithium salt products are currently proceeding as normal, and the impact of the related statement on the company is limited. China Minmetals revealed that the main source of raw materials for the company's lithium salt products is currently the Bikita Mine in Zimbabwe, but the company's domestic raw material inventory is sufficient. In response to the export ban, the company is actively negotiating with the local government on relevant export policies. The company also pointed out that Zimbabwe's decision to temporarily halt lithium ore exports is aimed at combating smuggling and promoting localized deep processing, which is expected to raise the threshold for Zimbabwean lithium ore exports, benefiting companies like China Minmetals with legitimate qualifications and mining rights in Zimbabwe. In addition, China Minmetals stated that the company is actively progressing with the construction of the lithium sulfate production line in Zimbabwe, and the related project is advancing as planned. "Building a lithium sulfate plant locally in Zimbabwe can effectively reduce production costs and is in line with the company's long-term interests," China Minmetals said.
