A tanker was attacked in the waters off Oman, at least 1 person dead.

The Oman Maritime Security Center said on the 2nd that a tanker was attacked by a boat carrying explosives while sailing about 52 nautical miles from the Muscat province, resulting in at least one death. The center stated that the attack caused a fire and explosion in the tanker's engine room, leading to the death of at least one crew member. Another 21 crew members have been evacuated. Currently, an Oman military vessel is monitoring the situation of the tanker and issuing navigation warnings to passing ships in the area.
