American media: White House orders to temporarily suspend the progress of arms sales to Taiwan.
The United States was previously reported to be preparing a new arms sale package for Taiwan, with a potential value of up to $20 billion. However, the new arms sale has now hit a deadlock. According to the New York Times, on February 27th, it was disclosed that the arms sale package was sent by the US State Department to senior members of Congress from both parties for informal review in January, and it was approved. Currently, the case is in the later stages of the process, but it has been sitting at the State Department ever since. A US official revealed that the executive branch had informed some of those involved in the review that the White House had ordered relevant agencies to postpone progress on the case to ensure that the US president could smoothly visit China.
