On February 26th local time, Czech Prime Minister Babis stated in an interview that he will not increase defense spending to 3.5% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In June of last year, NATO pledged to increase annual defense spending of member countries to 3.5% of GDP by 2035, with an additional 1.5% of GDP allocated for national security-related infrastructure investment. Babis emphasized on that day that the Czech Republic "will not go down the path to achieve this goal."
