The CEO of the British anti-monopoly regulatory agency stated that they have not been "soft-handed" in enforcing digital regulations.
Sarah Cardell, CEO of the UK antitrust agency, stated at a conference in London that the agency is not being soft on implementing new rules against tech giants. The background to her remarks is that the UK Competition and Markets Authority currently plans to accept voluntary commitments from Apple and Google's Alphabet to make their mobile ecosystems comply with the Digital Markets, Competition, and Consumers Act, rather than impose legally binding obligations on them. Cardell said, "These commitments - including strict supervision and reporting requirements - can bring immediate benefits without triggering lengthy formal procedures." She also stated, "This does not mean that the UK Competition and Markets Authority is being 'soft' on enforcement."
