Recently, a team composed of researchers from Nankai University and Shanghai Space Power Research Institute and other units have achieved a pioneering breakthrough. Through a new electrolyte technology, existing lithium batteries are expected to achieve a several times increase in endurance in the same size and weight, with significantly enhanced low-temperature performance. This achievement was published in the international academic journal "Nature" in the early morning of the 26th. The core breakthrough of the new battery lies in the internal electrolyte. After years of research and development, the research team has overcome key difficulties such as the difficulty of dissolving lithium salts in fluorine, and synthesized a series of new fluorinated hydrocarbon solvent molecules. By regulating the electron density of fluorine atoms and the spatial steric hindrance of solvent molecules, the electrolyte dosage is significantly reduced, while also possessing rapid charge transfer kinetics, thus simultaneously improving the energy density and low-temperature adaptability of the battery.
