Mexican President: "No security risks" in Guadalajara during the World Cup
Mexican President Claudia Sinbaum stated at a press conference on the 24th that visitors traveling to Guadalajara, the capital of Jalisco, Mexico during the 2026 World Cup would have "no risk" in terms of security. Sinbaum said that all activities are about to "return to normal", especially in the state of Jalisco. She stated that the local military deployment has been increased and all measures are in place, ensuring there is "no risk". One of Mexico's main drug trafficking groups, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, had its leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes killed in a military operation on the 22nd, leading to unrest in Jalisco state and neighboring states.
