AI panic emotion reappears, Asian software stocks fall.
Due to renewed AI panic, Asian software stocks fell on Tuesday, following overnight declines in the US market. In Hong Kong, software developer Kingdee International led the tech stock index lower, dropping nearly 10% in the morning. AI software company SenseTime dropped around 6.5%, while Kingsoft Corporation fell by about 4%. Japanese IT service provider NEC and Oracle both saw their Japanese subsidiaries listed in Tokyo fall by around 6% before the midday break. Tech investor SoftBank Group fell by about 5%. Australian software stocks also declined, with accounting software company Xero down by about 3%, enterprise software as a service provider Technology One down by about 4%, and cloud-based logistics company WiseTech Global down by around 3%. The trend in the South Korean market was more moderate, with Hancom, listed on the KOSDAQ, falling by 0.6% in early trading. The company is known for its Hancom Office word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applicationssimilar to Microsoft Office, but with strong support for the Korean language.
