Hong Kong Transport Department: currently studying the possibility of allowing self-driving vehicles to provide commercial services point-to-point within a specific range.
On February 24th, according to the website of Radio Television Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's Transport Department has issued a total of 6 pilot licenses for autonomous vehicles over the past year and a half, involving at least 60 autonomous vehicles. Chief Electronics Engineer Chung Cheuk-ming described in an interview that significant progress has been made in testing autonomous vehicles in Hong Kong, with the tested vehicles reaching the level of "highly automated driving", similar to progress in other parts of the world. Chung Cheuk-ming said that currently 4 projects are undergoing testing, with no accidents or congestion occurring. They are studying allowing autonomous vehicles to provide commercial services in a certain range in a point-to-point manner, to accelerate the transition of autonomous driving technology from research and development testing to actual operation.
