A winter storm swept through parts of the Northeastern United States, causing over 588,000 households and businesses to lose power. Officials in the region warned of heavy snow, strong winds, and dangerous travel conditions. The hardest hit utility company was Eversource Energy in Massachusetts, with 246,903 outages among its 3.3 million customers; followed by First Energy, affecting over 60,000 customers in New Jersey. The company serves 6.2 million customers nationwide. The total number of outages in New Jersey was 125,273 households. The blizzard made travel along the East Coast difficult, with airlines canceling thousands of flights and officials urging people to stay off the roads.
