Establishment of the Hong Kong Department of Justice to coordinate with the high-level preparatory group for the "15th Five-Year Plan".
The Department of Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced on the 20th the establishment of a preparatory group to interface with the "Five-Year Plan" planning team. The preparatory group will prepare for the upcoming release of the national "Five-Year Plan" and make more comprehensive, accurate, and detailed strategic deployments, actively leveraging the role of Hong Kong's legal and dispute resolution services in national development.
The preparatory group is chaired by the Secretary for Justice, Teresa Cheng, and the Deputy Secretary for Justice, Allen Yat-ming Wong. Members include Civil Legal Officers, Legal Policy Officers, International Legal Officers, and Administrative Officers from the Department of Justice.
The preparatory group held its first meeting on the 20th to discuss key development areas, manpower, and resource allocation for the Department of Justice under the national "Five-Year Plan." Once the content and details of the national "Five-Year Plan" are announced, the preparatory group will transform into an organizing group to actively work on coordinating various tasks related to the national "Five-Year Plan." According to the instructions of the Chief Executive of the SAR, a "Five-Year Plan for Hong Kong" aligning with the national "Five-Year Plan" will be completed within this year to better integrate Hong Kong into and serve the national development.
Teresa Cheng stated that Hong Kong can leverage its advantages in internationalization, high standards, and good reputation in legal and dispute resolution services within the national "Five-Year Plan." Hong Kong can also actively contribute to the training of international legal talents, actively engage with and contribute to the national "Five-Year Plan," play a better role in the construction of international legal systems for the country, and contribute to the construction of a higher level of the rule of law in China.
