Core CPI in Japan has been rising year-on-year for 53 consecutive months.
Data released by the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on the 20th showed that the core consumer price index in Japan, excluding fresh food, rose by 2.0% year-on-year to 112.0 in January this year, marking the 53rd consecutive month of year-on-year increases. The data indicated that the continuous rise in food prices is a major factor driving up prices in Japan, with food prices excluding fresh food rising by 6.2% year-on-year. Among them, coffee bean prices rose by 51.0% year-on-year, while the price of regular milled rice rose by 27.9% year-on-year. In addition, prices for house repairs, communication fees, and hotel accommodations also increased compared to the previous year.
