The Norwegian Ministry of Defense stated on the 17th local time that NATO has formally agreed to designate the airport in Bod, Norway as the permanent location for NATO's third Joint Air Operations Center. This Joint Air Operations Center in Bod will be operational in October 2025, originally planned as a temporary location before moving to the Reitan Mountain area in Bod later on. The Joint Air Operations Center in Bod is NATO's third Joint Air Operations Center after Germany's Ramstein and Spain's Torrejn, responsible for air combat command in the Nordic region, the Baltic Sea, the North Atlantic, and the Barents Sea. Bod is located within the Arctic Circle and has always been responsible for NATO's intelligence, surveillance, and combat duties in high latitude airspace.
