Trump said that the natural gas power plant built in Japan will become the largest in the United States.
President Donald Trump of the United States announced that a large natural gas power plant planned to be built in Ohio by Japan will become the largest facility of its kind in the United States, with its power generation capacity able to meet the electricity needs of millions of households. According to investment overview documents released by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Japan is expected to invest $33 billion in the project, which will be developed by a subsidiary of SoftBank Group, SB Energy. U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated in a declaration on Tuesday that the power plant's installed capacity will reach 9.2 gigawatts. This scale is roughly equivalent to 9 traditional nuclear reactors and, when operating at full capacity, can supply power to the grid operated by PJM Interconnection, the largest grid operator in the United States, meeting the electricity needs of approximately 7.4 million households. If completed, this Ohio power plant will exceed the 7.65 gigawatt natural gas project planned by the Pacific Energy Group in Texas, and also rank among the world's largest natural gas power plants the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority calls its Jabel Ali power plant the world's largest gas-fired power station, with an installed capacity of 9.547 gigawatts.
