Ford Motor Company is now focusing on a new platform for electric vehicles, developed from scratch by a "special project team" based in California. The first product will be a midsize electric pickup truck priced at around $30,000, with the goal of being profitable from the start. "The cost of electric vehicles is still dropping significantly, and to achieve this, we can only rely on innovation and system-level optimization to ultimately create the products that consumers want," said Ford's Allen Clark. He is in charge of this special team in Long Beach, and was previously a senior engineer at Tesla.
