From February 2nd to February 16th, the 15-day pre-Spring Festival transportation period of 2026 ended successfully. The Guangzhou Railway Bureau of China National Railway transported a total of 60.29 million passengers, an increase of 8.5% compared to the previous year, setting a new record for the total number of passengers transported during the same period. This year's Spring Festival holiday lasted for 9 days, making it the longest in history. The flow of passengers showed the characteristics of "steady and orderly before the festival, concentrated release after the festival, and overall high-level operation." During the first 15 days before the festival, the flow of passengers was mainly composed of students, migrant workers, family visits, and tourists, with overall smooth and orderly operations. The return flow of passengers after the festival is relatively concentrated, with a combination of family visits, migrant workers, and tourists, and it is expected that the peak of the return flow of passengers during the Spring Festival travel will occur on February 23rd. It is worth mentioning that during the first 15 days before the festival, Guangdong Province received a total of 15.568 million passengers, with the highest daily arrival of 1.245 million passengers, showing an increasing trend of "reverse travel." Facing the passenger flow pressure brought by the longest Spring Festival holiday in history, the Guangzhou Railway Bureau combined with the trend of passenger flow changes, continuously explored the potential of transportation capacity through measures such as adding extra trains, connecting more high-speed trains, increasing night high-speed trains, and adding carriages to regular trains.
