Apple (AAPL.O) is innovating the video features in its podcasts, which is part of the industry's transition from purely audio to visual media. A statement released on Monday shows that in the iOS 26.4 developer beta, Apple is making it easier for viewers to switch between watching video podcasts and listening to audio. Although Apple Podcasts has long supported video programs through RSS feed, its effectiveness is far behind platforms such as Spotify, YouTube, and Netflix. Apple is partnering with hosting platforms such as Art 19 from Amazon, Simplecast from SiriusXM, and AdsWizz to ensure podcast creators can synchronize their video programs to the app. Video podcasts will be supported on Vision Pro, iPad, iPhone, and the web version of Apple Podcasts starting this spring. Later this year, Apple will also charge advertising networks for placing video ads based on the number of ad impressions.
