Alibaba has open-sourced the new generation large-scale model Qwen3.5-Plus, which has reached the pinnacle of the world's strongest open-source models. Qwen3.5 represents an intergenerational leap from pure text models to native multimodal models. While Qwen3 was pre-trained on pure text tokens, Qwen3.5 is pre-trained on a mixture of visual and text tokens, with significantly increased data in Chinese, English, multilingual, STEM, and reasoning, allowing the large model to "open its eyes" to a more diverse world of knowledge and logical reasoning. With less than 40% of the parameters, the Qwen3-Max base model has achieved top performance in a wide range of benchmark evaluations including reasoning, programming, and agent intelligence.
