Wang Yi: Working Together to Correct the Course of the Historical Wheel
Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi attended the Munich Security Conference on the 14th and delivered a speech titled "Joining Hands to Calibrate the Correct Course of History's Giant Wheel" at the "China Special Session".
Wang Yi said that in the past year, the international situation has become more chaotic and intertwined, and the cause of peace and development for humanity has come to a new crossroads. President Xi Jinping proposed a global governance initiative, calling for the practice of the five principles of sovereignty equality, rule of law, multilateralism, people-centeredness, and action-orientedness, in order to jointly build a more just and reasonable global governance system. This initiative conforms to the trend of the times, rallies the widest possible consensus among countries, and has quickly received widespread response from the international community, injecting new momentum into the promotion of building a community with a shared future for mankind. It also provides a Chinese compass for the giant wheel of history to navigate through the storm towards a bright future. Human beings have come this far through stormy weather, and solidarity and cooperation are the correct choices. We should reform and improve global governance to correct the correct course of this historical giant wheel.
Wang Yi made four suggestions for reforming and improving global governance: first, revitalizing the United Nations system; the key is for countries to coordinate and cooperate; always adhere to multilateralism; and the urgent task is to stop wars and promote peace.
Wang Yi emphasized that China will be a firm force for peace, a reliable force for stability, and a force for progress in history, in order to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
