The employment in the French automotive industry decreased by one third from 2013 to 2023.
Data released by the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies on February 13th shows that due to factors such as declining sales, factory closures, and outsourcing, the number of employees in the French automobile industry decreased by 33% between 2010 and 2023, and layoffs are becoming increasingly common. The survey shows that the total number of employees in the industry decreased from 425,500 in 2010 to 286,800 in 2023, a reduction of nearly 139,000 full-time positions.
