American military uses lasers to pop balloons.
On the night of February 10th local time, the United States Federal Aviation Administration suddenly announced the suspension of all flights in and out of El Paso International Airport in Texas for 10 days, citing "special security reasons." However, just a few hours later, the FAA lifted the flight ban. The White House and the US Department of Transportation have explained that "Mexican drug trafficking groups' drones violated US airspace and have been resolved." However, according to reports by multiple US media outlets citing sources familiar with the matter on February 12th local time, the US Customs and Border Protection agency used anti-drone laser equipment provided by the US military in the area on February 9th to shoot down an "aerial target" - which was later confirmed to be just a balloon used at a party.
