The traffic volume of the G40 Yangtze River Tunnel is expected to increase by 5.36% tomorrow during peak hours.

According to the Pudong Sub-bureau of the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau, through in-depth analysis using the digital police system, it is estimated that during the Spring Festival, the total traffic volume entering and leaving the city through the G40 Yangtze River Tunnel will reach 895,000 vehicles, with an average daily volume of about 89,500 vehicles, an increase of 2.05% compared to 2025. The directional characteristics of the traffic flow are significant, showing a tidal pattern of "leaving the city before the festival and returning after the festival": the total outflow of the city is about 416,000 vehicles, with February 14th as the peak outflow day, with an estimated flow of 59,000 vehicles, a 5.36% increase from 2025; the total inflow into the city is about 479,000 vehicles, with February 23rd expected to see a peak in return traffic, with an estimated inflow of 80,000 vehicles, a 3.9% increase from the previous year.
