According to an internal anti-corruption report from Huawei in 2026, former head of the Terminal Business Group Multimedia Technology Department, Mr. Deng, was arrested by Longgang District People's Procuratorate on suspicion of accepting bribes as a non-state employee. Deng, the suspect, joined Huawei in July 2007 and held various positions such as engineer, senior engineer, architect, manager of the Camera department, and head of the Multimedia Technology Department until December 2020. It was found through investigation that Deng allegedly used his position to benefit suppliers, accepting significant bribes from them. On December 9, 2025, Deng was criminally detained, and on January 15, 2026, he was approved for arrest by the Longgang District People's Procuratorate. When contacted for verification, Huawei did not respond. Public records show that since May 2023, Deng has been the legal representative and chairman of the board of Shanghai Honor Smart Technology Development Co., Ltd., a company fully owned by Honor Terminal Co., Ltd. He also served as the president of the R&D Management Department at Honor Terminal Co., Ltd., responsible for overall product development. On May 16, 2024, Honor Terminal Co., Ltd. issued an internal notice announcing the removal of Deng from his position due to violations of the company's "Code of Business Conduct." The notice did not disclose specific details of the violations, but confirmed his dismissal. It is reported that after being dismissed by Honor, Deng joined Geely Holding Group's Star Meizu under an alias.
