Ford calls the shift to electric cars driven by changes in demand.
Ford Motor Company has stated that in order to meet consumer demands, the company is shifting its focus away from pure electric vehicles. During a conference call with analysts, Chief Financial Officer Sherry House stated that the automaker has rationalized the role of pure electric vehicles in its recent product lineup in December based on the "ever-changing market realities in the United States." In response to the changing situation, Ford is increasing production of hybrid vehicles as well as more affordable trucks and SUVs. Executives say the goal is to increase revenue while balancing their product portfolio. CEO Jim Farley said, "I think the customers have already given us the answer." He also said, "That's the focus."
