United Nations report calls for the least developed countries to increase productivity in the service sector.
The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development released a report on the 10th, pointing out that although the service industry in the least developed countries is rapidly expanding, growth is still concentrated in low-productivity activities that only sustain livelihoods and cannot create widespread prosperity. The UNCTAD "Least Developed Countries Report 2025" states that despite the increasing role of the service industry, the per capita growth rate of the least developed countries in 2024 remains weak. The employment market is dominated by informal retail, personal services, and livelihood activities, with insufficient development of high-productivity service industries that can support industrialization and competitiveness.
