IMF President downplays short-term fluctuations in the US dollar, saying the role of the US dollar will not change in the short term.
The managing director of the International Monetary Fund downplayed the dollar's decline over the past year, stating that the dollar may continue to maintain its dominant position. "We should not be swayed by short-term fluctuations in exchange rates," IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said in an interview with Bloomberg TV on Monday. "I believe the role of the dollar will not change in the short term." She pointed out that people should "deeply consider why the dollar can play such an important role in the international monetary system," and listed "the depth and liquidity of the U.S. capital markets, economic size, and entrepreneurial spirit in the United States" as reasons.
