On February 8th, a cold air mass moved southward to reach Hainan Island. According to the weather forecast released by the Hainan Provincial Meteorological Bureau at 8 o'clock that day, the meteorological conditions for navigation in the Qiongzhou Strait were poor. The weather forecast shows that from 8 o'clock on the 8th to 8 o'clock on the 9th, the Qiongzhou Strait will be mostly cloudy with light rain, northeast winds of 5-6 levels, gusts of 7-8 levels, and poor navigation conditions; from 8 o'clock on the 9th to 8 o'clock on the 11th, it will be mostly cloudy with easterly winds of level 5 and gusts of 6-7 levels, and navigation conditions will be average. The Hainan Provincial Marine Forecasting Station issued a yellow wave warning at 10 o'clock on the 8th: Due to the influence of the cold air mass, it is expected that from noon today to noon tomorrow, there will be large to huge waves of 3.5-5.0 meters in the area east of Leizhou Peninsula, east of Hainan Island, south of Hainan Island, near the Xisha Islands, and the northern part of the Nansha Islands. From south of Nansha to near Zengmu Ansha, the northern part of the Beibu Bay, and the sea area of the Qiongzhou Strait, there will be medium to large waves of 1.8-2.8 meters.
