On February 6, the State Administration for Market Regulation held a large-scale administrative guidance meeting for food sales chain enterprises in Beijing, urging companies to strictly implement their main responsibilities, strengthen food sales safety management, and effectively ensure food safety. The meeting pointed out that food sales chain enterprises have a wide geographical coverage, a wide variety of food products, a large volume of transactions, and obvious brand effects, which have played a positive role in ensuring food supply, facilitating consumer consumption, and promoting economic development. However, there are still issues such as lack of practical management responsibilities, low risk prevention and control capabilities throughout the chain, and inadequate training, assessment, and management of employees in specific practices. The meeting required food sales chain enterprises to strengthen their legal awareness, risk awareness, and responsibility awareness, establish and implement daily control, weekly inspection, and monthly scheduling work systems and mechanisms covering food safety risks for enterprise headquarters, branches, stores, etc., formulate a "Food Safety Risk Control Checklist", strengthen risk management throughout the procurement, storage, sales, and distribution processes; strengthen employee training, assessment, and health management, continuously improve food safety awareness and professional capabilities; establish a sound food safety complaint handling mechanism to properly resolve consumer disputes. The meeting emphasized that food sales chain enterprises must strictly fulfill their main responsibilities for food safety and effectively prevent food safety risks. Relevant food industry associations should strengthen industry self-discipline, promote the construction of integrity systems, and urge chain enterprises to operate legally and compliantly. Market supervision departments should intensify supervision and law enforcement efforts, crack down on illegal activities, effectively protect consumers' legitimate rights and interests, and jointly ensure the food safety of the people during the holiday period.
