Many banks are raising the minimum amount for SMS notifications.

Recently, several banks have further raised the minimum amount for receiving text message notifications for account transactions such as deposits and withdrawals. It was noted that since last year, at least ten banks including Bank of China, Minsheng Bank, Guangdong Huaxing Bank, Hubei Bank, and Gansu Bank have successively raised the threshold for free SMS notifications for bank card transactions. Among them, China Merchants Bank currently has the highest threshold of 5000 yuan. If customers have a need for notifications for small transactions, they will need to pay an additional fee of 2 to 3 yuan per month. Small transaction SMS notifications have thus entered the era of paid service.
