In response to the recent issue of a large amount of pornographic and vulgar content live-streaming on the Kuaishou platform, under the guidance of the National Internet Information Office, the Beijing Internet Information Office has lawfully launched an investigation into Beijing Kuaishou Technology Co., Ltd. for suspected illegal activities. It was found that the Kuaishou platform did not fulfill its obligation to protect network security, did not timely address system vulnerabilities and other security risks, and did not immediately take measures to stop the transmission and eliminate illegal information posted by users. The situation was serious and had a negative impact. On February 6, the Beijing Internet Information Office, in accordance with the Cybersecurity Law of the People's Republic of China, the Administrative Penalty Law of the People's Republic of China, and other laws and regulations, imposed a warning and a fine of 119 million yuan on Beijing Kuaishou Technology Co., Ltd., and ordered it to make corrections within a specified period, dispose of accounts in accordance with the law and contract, and deal with responsible individuals strictly. The Beijing Internet Information Office will continue to strengthen internet law enforcement, strictly crack down on all kinds of illegal activities, urge website platforms to strictly implement their primary responsibilities, effectively safeguard network security, protect the legitimate rights and interests of the people, and maintain a clean and clear cyberspace.
