Minister of Industry and Information Technology Wang Shijiang: 2026 is a crucial year for the governance of the photovoltaic industry, and efforts will focus on four key areas.
According to the Securities Daily, on February 5th, the China Photovoltaic Industry Association held a seminar in Beijing on the review of the development of the photovoltaic industry in 2025 and the outlook for 2026. During the meeting, Wang Shijiang, Deputy Director of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said in his speech that 2026 is a crucial year for the governance of the photovoltaic industry. The Department of Electronics and Information Technology will work closely with relevant departments to focus on four key areas. Firstly, resolutely implement the spirit of the symposium of photovoltaic industry entrepreneurs on January 28th to regulate the industry and prevent internal competition, which is a top priority for the work in 2026. Through strengthening departmental coordination, coordinating strategies, and comprehensively utilizing measures such as capacity control, standard guidance, quality supervision, price law enforcement, prevention of monopoly risks, protection of intellectual property rights, promotion of technological progress, and actively expanding the application market, we will accelerate the dynamic balance between supply and demand. Secondly, improve standards and quality supervision, lead high quality with high standards, and fulfill the responsibility of "managing the industry with standards." Accelerate the issuance of mandatory national standards including quality safety, labeling norms, energy consumption limits, etc., and formulate hierarchical classification standards to curb behavior such as false power ratings, reduce quality control, and infringement of intellectual property rights. Strengthen product quality supervision and inspections to create a good environment of high quality, fair price, and healthy competition. Thirdly, strengthen innovation-driven development, shape the next generation of technological competitive advantages, support the construction of a collaborative innovation system of "production, study, research, and application," and encourage enterprises to continue on the path of innovative development. Continuously promote the industrialization of advanced photovoltaic technologies, especially in cutting-edge areas such as perovskite tandem solar cells, accelerate the shaping of competitive advantages and technological progress of new generation products, and resolve the problem of internal competition in the industry. Finally, deepen international cooperation and promote high-quality Chinese photovoltaic products going global. In the face of the dual situation of accelerating global energy transformation and rising trade protectionism, actively expand industrial exchanges and cooperation, support enterprises to orderly carry out overseas layout, strengthen business guidance and service guarantee, enhance intellectual property protection and risk response, and create a conducive international market environment that promotes innovation, fairness, and order.
