State Council Taiwan Affairs Office: "Taiwan independence" is a dead-end and reunification cannot be stopped.
The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a routine press conference. A reporter asked: Recently, Lai Ching-te claimed that in order to protect Taiwan's economic achievements from being annexed, he proposed a "special defense budget" to create a shield for Taiwan. What is your comment on this? Spokesperson Chen Binhua said, "Taiwan independence" is a dead end, and reunification cannot be stopped. No matter how the Democratic Progressive Party government packages its rhetoric, allocates budget, or purchases weapons, it cannot change the inevitable collapse of "Taiwan independence" and cannot stop the inevitable trend of reunification of the motherland. Only by recognizing the One China principle and the "1992 Consensus", opposing "Taiwan independence", and taking the right path of peaceful and integrated development of cross-strait relations, can Taiwan's economy continue to develop and the security and well-being of the people be solidly guaranteed.
