Hong Kong and Macao are flat: Panama self-slap self-inflicted consequences.
Recently, the Supreme Court of Panama ruled that the renewal of the concession contract for the operation of the Panama Canal ports by Chinese companies from Hong Kong was invalid due to so-called "unconstitutionality". This ruling ignores facts, breaks faith, seriously harms the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies from Hong Kong, and has naturally been strongly opposed by the Chinese government and the Hong Kong SAR government, as well as condemned by various sectors of Hong Kong society. The ruling is baseless and absurd both legally and logically.
For a long time, certain countries have pursued a hegemonic logic of supremacy, repeatedly using "national security" and "geopolitical strategy" as pretexts to coerce other countries to obey their will, and forcing other countries to suppress third-party companies. They politicize commercial issues, incite conflicts, confrontations, containment, and decoupling, disrupt the international political and economic order, go against the trend of peace, development, cooperation, and mutual benefit. Panama, as a sovereign state, should have upheld its independent and equal status in international relations, but has succumbed to hegemonic coercion and become a puppet of hegemony. The ruling has made the international community strongly feel that the country's judicial independence has become a joke, with no credibility whatsoever.
The Chinese government firmly defends the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies, and will never turn a blind eye to hegemonic bullying. The Chinese government's position on safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies, including those from Hong Kong, is unwavering, as is its stance against economic coercion and hegemonic bullying. It will never sit idly by in the face of actions that infringe upon China's and Chinese companies' legitimate rights. China will never succumb to power politics and hegemonism, and has sufficient means, tools, strength, and ability to uphold a fair and just international economic and trade order. The Panamanian authorities should realize the situation and turn back from the wrong path. If they persist in their stubbornness, they will undoubtedly pay a heavy price politically and economically!
