Cui Dongshu, Chairman of the China Passenger Car Association: In 2025, lithium batteries, as one of China's "new three leading export products," continued to develop steadily, although at a slower pace compared to the previous period of rapid growth. In contrast to the declining trend in the export of solar panels, which are also part of the "new three leading export products," the export of lithium batteries achieved resilient growth due to its diversified market layout. In terms of market structure, the export showed significant regional differentiation, with the European Union remaining the largest export market and its demand share continuing to increase, becoming the core driver of export growth. With the end of subsidies for new energy vehicles in the United States, Korean batteries faced pressure to reduce production, leading to weakened exports of Chinese lithium batteries to the U.S., as well as a simultaneous decline in the Japanese and Korean markets. Emerging markets in the Middle East and Oceania showed impressive growth rates, effectively offsetting the decline in some traditional markets. At the same time, the overall export prices of lithium batteries are trending downwards, with both lithium primary batteries and lithium ion batteries experiencing varying degrees of decline in unit prices. Overall, in 2025, China's lithium battery exports remained stable amidst market adjustments, relying on expansion in emerging markets and deep cultivation in core markets to effectively respond to the challenges brought by changes in the external environment.
