Canada holds a meeting of provincial premiers, emphasizes defending sovereignty.

On January 29th local time, Canadian Prime Minister Kenny and provincial governors held a meeting in the capital Ottawa, reaffirming unified action to build a more resilient Canadian economy and emphasizing the defense of sovereignty. At the meeting, provincial governors discussed the geopolitical situation, reaffirmed Canada's firm commitment to democracy and the rule of law, declared that Canada stands together with NATO allies, and united to defend Canadian sovereignty, including in the Arctic region, and agreed to accelerate strategic investment in Canada's northern regions. In addition, the meeting also discussed plans for a joint review of the "USMCA trade agreement" and breaking down provincial trade barriers to ensure energy security, among other issues.
