A report released by the German market research institute GfK on the 28th showed that the leading index of consumer confidence in Germany has shown signs of recovery after experiencing a significant weakening at the beginning of the year. In February, the index rose by 2.8 points from the revised data in January, to -24.1 points. The report shows that the three key indicators reflecting German consumer confidence, including economic prospects, income expectations, and purchasing intentions, all increased compared to the previous month. Compared to the same period last year, consumers are significantly more optimistic about the future economic prospects of Germany in the next 12 months, believing that the economy is gradually emerging from the slump and returning to a moderate growth trajectory. The increase in income expectations is mainly due to the increase in the statutory minimum wage at the beginning of this year, which helps boost the consumption environment.
