The relevant official responsible for the Department of Solid Waste and Chemicals of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment stated during a press conference on the "Announcement on the Release of Control Requirements for the Production of 12 Additional Mercury-Containing Products, including Mercury Batteries, and the Use of Mercury-Containing Catalysts in the Production of Polyurethane" that China will focus on key areas such as the research and development of mercury-free catalysts and accelerate the transformation of the polyvinyl chloride industry to mercury-free production.
