Income below $200,000 exempt from tuition fees: Yale's new policy will cover over 80% of American families.
Yale University is following Harvard's initiative from last year, announcing that undergraduate students from families with annual incomes below $200,000 will have their tuition waived. The school released a statement on Tuesday local time, stating that the enhanced financial aid policy will ensure that students from such families "receive need-based financial aid that covers or exceeds the cost of tuition." According to this new policy, which will take effect from the 2026-2027 academic year, all expected costs for students from families with average assets and income below $100,000 will be waived. Harvard University, the oldest and wealthiest institution of higher education in the United States, announced last year that it would waive tuition and room and board fees for students from families with incomes of $100,000 or less, while those with incomes below $200,000 would be exempt from tuition.
