The United Nations Security Council held an open debate on international law on the 26th. UN Secretary-General Guterres emphasized the importance of international law and urged UN member states to uphold international law. Guterres warned that on a global scale, the "law of the jungle" is replacing the rule of law. International law is openly violated and the UN Charter is shamelessly disregarded. He urged UN member states to defend the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and to make full use of the conflict resolution mechanisms outlined in the Charter, promoting the use of fair, independent international judicial procedures.
