The Meteorological Observatory of Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province issued an orange fog warning at 00:37 on January 27, 2026: In the early morning to the late morning today, most areas of Xuzhou will experience strong fog or very strong fog with visibility of less than 200 meters, locally less than 50 meters. To ensure the safety of navigational channels, the Liushan Lock and Jietai Lock on the Xuzhou section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal will temporarily suspend navigation from 7 a.m. Xuzhou Navigation Center lock workers are notifying vessels in the navigational channel through various channels such as VHF and telephone to anchor or berth in safe waters nearby, and avoid risky navigation, while also strengthening the inspection and maintenance of signal lights in the lock area to ensure they are clearly visible in the heavy fog and provide accurate navigation for vessels.
