Preliminary evidence shows that the high-speed train accident in Spain was caused by a weld seam rupture.
On the 26th local time, Ignacio Barn, chairman of the Spanish Railway Accident Investigation Committee responsible for investigating the high-speed train derailment accident, stated that the current main hypothesis points to the breakage of the rail welding point, rather than the breakage of the rail itself. Barn pointed out that preliminary evidence indicates that the rupture of the weld seam caused the train to derail, resulting in a collision between two high-speed trains. He emphasized that the investigation will not only stop at confirming "where it broke," but will also delve into investigating "why it broke, whether it could have been detected earlier, and how to prevent similar accidents from happening again."
