Japanese media: As the House of Representatives election approaches, the approval rating of the Koga Cabinet has dropped significantly by 10%.
According to the latest public opinion survey conducted by the Japanese newspaper "Mainichi Shimbun", the approval rating of Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae's cabinet is 57%, a decrease of 10% compared to the previous survey; the disapproval rating has increased by 7% to 29%. Since the establishment of the cabinet in October last year, the approval rating had remained high at 65% to 67% for three consecutive months, but has now fallen as the lower house election approaches. Only 27% of the people surveyed "approve" of Takaichi's decision to dissolve the lower house at the beginning of the regular session of the Diet.
As for the upcoming election, the opposition parties, the Constitutional Democratic Party and the Komeito Party, have formed a new party called the "Centrist Reform Alliance" to challenge the ruling party. Co-representative of the party, Yukio Edano, emphasized, "We must work hard to make the development momentum of the centrist forces become the core force in Japanese politics." Co-representative Tetsuo Saito said, "We must start a wave of political reorganization." The National Democratic Party has not joined this new party, but is campaigning on the platform of "further increasing the actual income of the people" in order to expand their support rate.
