On January 23, at the 2026 China Real Estate Finance Forum hosted by the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhang Yu, Executive Director and General Manager of the Research Department of China International Capital Corporation (CICC), stated that the official launch of commercial real estate investment trusts (REITs) marks a new stage for the Chinese REITs market, bringing vast development opportunities. Zhang Yu analyzed that REITs can help real estate companies reduce debt, prevent risks, build a virtuous cycle system, and promote the transition to "light asset operation". At the same time, in a low interest rate environment, REITs can help reassess the value of high-quality assets and provide new investment channels for investors.
