The number of marriage registrations in Shanghai increased by approximately 38.7% in 2025.

Currently, many provinces have released last year's marriage registration data. According to the data published by the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau, in 2025, a total of 175,092 couples registered for marriage in the city, including 125,102 marriages and 49,990 divorces. Since the "Nationwide Marriage Registration" system was fully implemented on May 10th, Shanghai has processed a total of 41,332 marriages under this system, including 34,040 marriages and 7,292 divorces, accounting for 38.49% and 21.3% of the total marriage registrations in the city during the same period. The number of people registering for marriage in Shanghai in 2025 has increased by about 38.7% compared to 2024.
