Multiple online travel platforms show that Haikou and Sanya are among the popular domestic destinations. The 2026 Spring Festival travel season will start on February 2 and end on March 13, lasting for 40 days. It is predicted that the passenger throughput of Hainan Airport Group's three major airports on the island, including Haikou Meilan, Sanya Phoenix, and Qionghai Bo'ao, will exceed 8.175 million passengers, with the potential to continue setting new historical highs. Among them, the passenger volume at Haikou Meilan Airport is expected to reach 4.385 million, Sanya Phoenix Airport is expected to reach 3.493 million, and Qionghai Bo'ao Airport is expected to reach 297,000. Hainan Airport officials point out that the Spring Festival passenger flow has distinct temporal characteristics, with the passenger volume steadily increasing before New Year's Eve and reaching a peak around February 13. It is predicted that there will be two rounds of small peak passenger flows returning to work or school around February 21-23 and March 3, before and after the Lantern Festival.
