The United States has extended the operating license for the Serbian Oil Company again.
On January 23, local time, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control extended the operating license of the Serbian oil company until February 20. On January 10, 2025, the U.S. imposed sanctions on the Serbian oil company, requiring Russian shareholders to withdraw from the company. The sanctions were repeatedly delayed until October 9, when they officially took effect. After that, the only active refinery under the Serbian oil company, the Pancevo refinery, was temporarily shut down, causing huge pressure on the Serbian energy market. On December 31, the U.S. decided to extend the operating license of the Serbian oil company until January 23, 2026. A week before that, the U.S. issued a special permit to the Serbian oil company, allowing the company to extend the negotiation period for selling Russian shares until March 24, 2026.
