The United States imposes another round of new sanctions on Iran.
On January 23rd, local time, the US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control announced a new round of sanctions on multiple entities and vessels related to Iran's energy and shipping system, focusing on the shipping and management networks that assist Iran's oil, energy, and derivative exports. According to the published documents, the entities added to the sanctions list this time include multiple shipping companies and their affiliated vessels, with related assets within US jurisdiction to be frozen and American individuals and institutions prohibited from engaging in any transactions with them. The sanctions also apply to affiliated companies that are directly or indirectly owned by the sanctioned entities holding 50% or more of the shares, further expanding the compliance constraints. The sanctioned vessels mainly involve oil tankers and cargo ships, with the US determining that they play a key role in Iran's restricted energy trade.
