On January 23, data from the China Iron and Steel Association showed that in mid-January 2026, key statistical steel companies produced a total of 19.79 million tons of crude steel, with an average daily production of 1.979 million tons, a decrease of 0.9% compared to the previous period; pig iron production was 17.94 million tons, with an average daily production of 1.794 million tons, an increase of 1.8% compared to the previous period; steel production was 18.77 million tons, with an average daily production of 1.877 million tons, an increase of 3.0% compared to the previous period. Based on this estimate, the daily production of crude steel in the country this month is 2.44 million tons, a decrease of 1.7% compared to the previous period, daily production of pig iron is 2.16 million tons, an increase of 0.6% compared to the previous period, and daily production of steel is 3.93 million tons, an increase of 1.5% compared to the previous period.
